For the non-Kiwis (i.e. all y’all), Wainuiomata i s a satellite town of our capital Wellington, and is the butt of all the region’s white trash jokes.
Wonder why?

This reminds me of a car in Boseman, Montana. I have relatives there who told me they’ve seen a Chevy Lumina driving around with a pickup bed welded where the roof used to be. Like, they cut the roof off at the top of the pillars and welded a bed there like some bizarre, alternate-universe El-Camino.

Despite the higher center of gravity than a double decker bus, it has doubled its storage capacity.

That’s.. interesting.
It seems like more trouble than its worth? (Although I live in a part of the world where even the poors can often scare up enough land to park both a car and a trailer..)

Double decker buses have an unexpectedly low center of gravity.

I thought you would be impressed by a video featuring Tiff Needell.

When I was looking for a house in the Wgtn region I was shown house over in Wainui. Everyone of them had a bar, and one had *2* bars. One upstairs in a kinda of game room, and the other downstairs with long white shag pile and white fake leather upholstery. When discussing the house we referred to the upstairs as the public bar :-)

I love the old Routemaster videos.
Skid pan test.

Hmmm bed welded on top of a car, that could actually be useful.

Those were the videos I was looking for. Unfortunately, my Google-Fu wasn’t up the task.

I think my YouTube knows me too well. It throws up old videos from British Pathe, etc... all the time.
I love videos like these, the RT1.

Always! I just couldn't help myself to tease you for correcting my inaccurate joke. No malice intended. I'm sorry.

No need for apologies:
I wasn’t upset. In fact, I found it amusing.

That’s the Wainui we know and love :-).
The first house I owned had last been done up in the 70s and had a shagpile carpet. Before we m oved in we had it steam cleaned - the guy found over $5 in loose cha n ge lost in the pil e, along with enough Lego to fortify the garage. We were goi ng to rip the shag straight out but for various reasons it took about 5 years before we actually did. I really missed it when it was gone...
